Hello, my name is Richard John Calale Jr., but you can call me R.J.
My career has spanned over twenty seven years in sales and marketing. I have worked for Fortune 100 companies such as Citadel Communications, as well as Time Warner Cable Media for well over a decade. In 2004, I started an independent video production and media consulting business, specializing in branding products and services. I have enjoyed working with top companies and colleges, along with such famous people and athletic organizations as the New York Jets and Richard Petty: “The King of NASCAR”. I now bring this experience to real estate, working for a successful real estate agency. Our family ties run generations deep and I am very proud to represent the Yaman name in my vocation.
Since the first Calale arrived to the shores of the United States in the 1900’s, Homer has been our home. My great grandfather planted his roots in Cortland County and raised his family and ventured into business, as did my grandfather. My own parents, whom have been great mentors (role models, examples, whichever…) to me, have been community involved their whole lives. My mother, Virginia, sold real estate for over twenty nine years, thirteen of which were spent with Yaman Real Estate. She continued on to become an associate broker at Calco Real Estate. My father, Richard Sr., was a math teacher at Cortland Jr. High School for thirty three years, then went in to real estate as an associate broker for his brother, Harry, and Pete Testa at Testa -Calco Real Estate for over twenty years. I am very proud of my family roots, and by growing up in Homer I enjoyed its vast history and how my family played even just a small part in it. Their roles in my life have helped me become a better person and father of three, and have showed me the value in one’s community and one’s self-worth. I have taken the torch and will follow in their footsteps.
Over the years, I have been fortunate to have experienced many different places and states in which to live, and enjoyed all of them and what they had to offer; however, I always longed for Upstate New York. Cortland County offers a plethora of opportunities. The area supports the arts with theaters and music venues, along with vast recreational facilities, with complement of three local ski areas, numerous golf courses and a selection of Finger Lakes to choose from. One can also take advantage of a wealth of educational facilities such as Cortland State, Cornell University, Ithaca College, Syracuse University as well as Tompkins Cortland Community College.
Cortland County is centrally located with major transportation routes taking you north, south, east and west on Interstate 81 and NYS Rt. 90. With three cities within thirty to forty five minutes, you can enjoy all of the sports and shopping one could imagine. Therefore, it’s a great place to live!
I welcome you and invite you to call, email or text me anytime. I promise I will be there.
